During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.

"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."

"No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug........... Do you want a bed near the window?"

What makes politicians and activist think they have the right to blame size zero models for other peoples eating disorders?

Most women will never look like a catwalk model. That's the whole point of modelling! They are displaying the work of an artist (whether you like their art is subjective) aimed at the pockets of a rich minority and which is sometimes latter copied by high street stores for the likes of us.

Aren't both life and art supposed to be full of unattainable ideals?

Surely fashion show organisers have the right to pick who they like for the catwalk and skinny models have the right to work regardless of their physical stature? I've yet to hear anyone explain how they can justify banning someone pursuing a specific career based on their physical appearance or stopping an employer hiring that person.

If its OK to ban models for being too skinny, why are oversize models celebrated in the media? Shouldn't we ban fat people from tv for making fat more socially acceptable? Obesity is a far greater problem than anorexia? They represent the opposite extreme.

Are fat women in the chattering classes just jealous?

Notice how the UK media keep referring to size zero when they should use size 4. Size 4 just doesn't sound any where near as sensational does it?

I wonder if the pressure groups would be happier if models went up to say a size 1 or 2?
Would all the dismorphia disappear?

Over weight school kids (girls and boys) stuffing their faces with cake and chips, then skipping PE are more of a problem than the few (girls and a fewer boys) who starve themselves or throw up in the loos.

I'm not implying that its an either or situation, but shouldn't we be more concerned with banning fatty and unhealthy food?

What happens to models who are naturally size zero?

Should we ban professional sports for setting bad body image examples to young men who then take steroids in order to conform?

We could ban rich people because they make poor people jealous enough to go out and rob?

What happened to self control? Why should the fashion industry shoulder the blame for the prevalence of eating disorders in the developed world?

I'm waiting for a smart model in Spain or Italy to sue the show organisers. Lawyers with expertise in European employment law must be rubbing their hands.

Why don't they just issue guidelines or better still 'fat quotas'. Inspectors can turn up at fashion shows unannounced where they would test the models by attempting to 'pinch an inch'. I volunteer my services.

Eat too much, you get fat. Eat too little you get thin.
Why does the media contrive to make a news story of this everyday of the week, every day of the year?
